Sewer Line Projects- In April, 2011 Hoerr Construction televised 32,000 feet of clay sewer lines. After the televising was completed we identified the major areas in our sewer lines that was allowing surface water to infiltrate into our sewer system, which increased the number of gallons of sewage we had to treat at our sewer treatment plant. Sewer Re-lining - As a result of the televising, several areas were identified. Cambridge contracted with Rock Island, East Moline, Coal Valley and Silvis which made the bid over 20,000 feet to be relined. By bidding together Cambridge was given a very good price for this work. The cost to reline the 5,121 feet was $115,031. If Cambridge didn't have the opportunity for contract -the bid could have been $20,000 higher.
Sewer Point Repairs - The village also had several sewer lines repaired in November. Through the televising we found some sewer lines that had broken and were literally falling apart. We also had some tree roots growing in our sewer lines which slowed down immensely the flow of the sewage that flowed through our system. The cost of this project was $53,000 but we believe it will help immensely when this year spring rains occur helping alleviate the backup of the sewage into residents homes.
Cambridge Commercial Park-The 750 feet of concrete road was finished in late 2011. We now have available for sale 5 commercial lots that range in size from .66 acres up to 1.67 acres. If there is a need for more than that we have available another 86 acres that could be developed. The lots already have water and sewer installed and the 8 inch concrete road with curb and gutter is ready for heavy truck traffic. Electricity and natural gas is currently being installed by Ameren Illinois. This entire commercial park is TIF eligible so many tax incentives are available.
